The students participated in a Civil Service Orientation Programme held on 25 September 2025 at Womens College, Thiruvananthapuram, organised by the Kerala State Civil Service Academy. The main aim of the programme was to create awareness among students about the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission and to help them understand the structure of the exam and the methods of preparation.The programme began with an introductory session handled by a faculty member from the Kerala State Civil Service Academy. The resource person explained the three stages of the Civil Services Examination, namely the Preliminary Examination, the Mains Examination and the Interview. The session also gave a clear picture of the syllabus, the pattern of questions and the importance of regular study, proper guidance and continuous revision.The second session was led by Mr Alfred O A, Sub Collector, Thiruvananthapuram. He delivered an inspiring and informative talk on the preparation strategy for the examination. He stressed the importance of using NCERT books, standard reference books and reliable current affairs sources. He also gave useful tips on time management, answer writing, discipline and maintaining a positive approach throughout the preparation journey. After the talk he interacted with the students and answered their doubts related to optional subjects, study plans and exam strategy.A quiz programme based on general knowledge and current affairs was conducted after the sessions. This activity helped the students test their awareness and encouraged them to stay updated with important national and international events.In conclusion, the Civil Service Orientation Programme was very useful and motivating. It gave the students valuable information about the nature of the Civil Services Examination and provided clear guidance on how to begin their preparation. The programme succeeded in inspiring many students to consider a career in the civil services with confidence and determination
