Cleaning Day As a part of Gandhi Jayanthi Celebration On 28-11-2025
The Cleaning Day Programme was organized in our college on November 28 2025 as part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. The event aimed to honour the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, who strongly advocated for cleanliness, hygiene, discipline, and community service. The programme was designed not only to clean the college campus but also to cultivate a sense of social responsibility and environmental awareness among students. The event began at 1.30 after lunch break. The Principal Dr. A.V Sujith sir also briefed the students about the schedule, safety measures, and expected outcomes of the cleaning activity. Cleaning tools such as brooms, mops, dustpans, gloves, garbage bags, and disinfectants were distributed among the volunteers by the staffs. To ensure organized participation, students were divided into different teams and assigned specific areas of the campus. The classroom cleaning team dusted benches, cleaned blackboards, arranged learning materials, and ensured neat and tidy seating arrangements. The corridor teams swept the walkways, removed litter, cleaned windows, and eliminated cobwebs. The washroom team ensured proper sanitation by scrubbing floors, wiping wash basins, and placing deodorizing agents. Under the guidance of faculty members, all tasks were carried out systematically and with great dedication. One key focus of the programme was awareness on waste classification and eco-friendly habits. Students were instructed to segregate waste into dry and wet categories to understand the importance of responsible waste management. The entire cleaning activity created a vibrant atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork. Students worked with enthusiasm and discipline, reflecting Gandhiji’s values of humility and dignity of labour. Teachers acknowledged the sincere participation of every student and encouraged them to continue practising cleanliness in their everyday lives. After the completion of the cleaning work, the college provided refreshment drinks to all participants as a gesture of appreciation. The refreshments helped students relax after the physically demanding work and added a sense of togetherness, allowing everyone to interact, reflect, and share their experiences informally. This thoughtful gesture created a positive closing to the programme and motivated students further. The students expressed how the activity deepened their understanding of environmental care, teamwork, and civic responsibility. Many pledged to implement cleanliness habits not just in the college campus but also at home and in their communities. Overall, the Cleaning Day Programme held on as a part of Gandhi Jayanti was highly successful and educational. It reinforced the significance of maintaining a clean environment and helped students internalize Gandhiji’s timeless teachings on hygiene, discipline, and service to society. The programme left the campus refreshed and also strengthened the collective resolve to uphold cleanliness as a continuous practice. These are some pictures taken from the cleaning day programme:
