College Union and Arts Club Inauguration 2025–26
Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram
The College Union and Arts Club Inauguration of the Government College of Teacher Education (GCTE), Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, for the academic year 2025–26 was held with great enthusiasm and vibrancy on 3rd November 2025. The event was organized by the College Union “Jwala,” symbolizing the spark and energy of the student community.
The programme began with a soulful prayer by Krishna G. K., Arts Club Secretary, setting a serene and auspicious tone for the event. This was followed by the welcome address delivered by Suryajith Sathyan, the Chairperson of the College Union, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. She highlighted the role of the Union in fostering creativity, leadership, and unity among student-teachers.
The gathering was then addressed by Prof. Dr. A. V. Sujith, Principal, GCTE, who delivered the Presidential Address. He emphasized the importance of student participation in arts, culture, and governance and acknowledged the vital role of the Union in enriching campus life. He encouraged students to uphold the values of responsibility, cooperation, and academic integrity.
Inauguration by Shri Antony Raju, Hon’ MLA
The most awaited moment of the event was the official inauguration of the College Union and Arts Club by Shri Antony Raju, respected MLA, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
During the ceremony, he formally displayed and declared the Union name “Jwala”, marking the beginning of a new year of vibrant student activities.
In his inspiring inaugural address, Shri Antony Raju spoke extensively about:
the initiatives and efforts of the Government of Kerala in strengthening public education,
the importance of teacher education in shaping the future of society,
the need for youth to remain socially aware, responsible, and proactive,
and the role of cultural and artistic activities in building a well-rounded personality.
His speech motivated the audience, particularly the student-teachers, to actively contribute to academic excellence and social development.

After the formal ceremony, the event continued with a series of cultural programmes performed by the students.
