FOLKLORE DAY CELEBRATION
Folklore Day Celebration
22-08-2025
The Government College of Teacher Education (Thiruvananthapuram), under the joint auspices of the Language Club and IQAC, celebrated Folklore Day on August 22.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Suhana Jaleel, firstyear B.Ed. student and one of the event organizers.
After briefly explaining what folklore is, the session began with a prayer song rendered by Anasuya, a first-year B.Ed. student.
The uniqueness of the event was that the prayer was sung in Tamil. Following that, Reshma, first-year B.Ed. student, delivered a talk on the topic Tamil and Folk Knowledge – A General Introduction, which was a wellpresented and engaging session.
Then came Suhana’s multilingual folk song performance, which added a musical flavor to the event.
Subsequently, Akhila, second-year B.Ed. student, conducted a folklorebased general knowledge quiz, involving the entire audience and making the session lively and interactive.
After that, Dr. Sreja, an M.Ed. student, presented a Vadakkan Pattu (a traditional northern ballad performance). The session continued for a few moments with songs and storytelling.
Finally, Suhana Jaleel came forward to deliver the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude and love to everyone who participated in and contributed to the Folklore Day celebrations.
The event concluded successfully, with the satisfaction that all the programs were conducted beautifully within the available time — marking the greatest success of the celebration.
