GEOGRAPHY ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION

On 25th August 2025 at 9:30 AM, the Geography Department Association inauguration had successfully started. The program was conducted and coordinated by Geography students, First Year B.Ed Geography students, in association with IQAC.

The function was started with a prayer by Vineetha, a First Year B.Ed student. Later, Beema Arshad, another First Year B.Ed student, made a welcome speech. In the welcome speech, she explained the meaning of Geography and its importance. After that, (Professor Dr.) AV Sujet, Principal of GCTE, made a presidential address. It was followed by the official inauguration of the association. Chief Guest, Dr. Nishad N, Assistant Professor of Government College Karyavattom , inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp. It was followed by an inaugural speech by the Chief Guest. Apart from the need and importance of Geography, the inaugural speech focused on motivation for future teachers. A memento was presented to him as a token of respect.

 The logo and name of the association was revealed by the Chief Guest. The name was "Oikos," which means "home." Assumpta  Maria, a First Year B.Ed Geography student, explained the meaning of the name and the logic behind the logo.

It was followed by felicitation speeches by Professor (Dr.) Anju I, the Vice Principal of GCTE, Dr. Rajashree K, Faculty, Department of Natural Science, Dr. Rahul V.R, GCTE faculty, and Dr. Chitralekha, Faculty of Philosophy. All of them extended their hearty blessings for the future activities of the association.
