The inauguration of the Commerce Association was held on 26th August 2025 at 2:30 PM in the esteemed presence of distinguished guests, faculty members, and students. The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Arun Lawrence, Assistant Professor, PG and Research Department of Commerce at Mar Ivanios College (Autonomous), Thiruvananthapuram.The event commenced with a prayer song by Adrija I Kumar, Secretary of the Commerce Association The formal proceedings began with a warm Welcome Address by Prof. (Dr.) Issac Paul. In his speech, he emphasized the role and future aspirations of the Commerce Association, particularly its potential to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications in everyday life. He also extended a cordial welcome to the Chief Guest, Principal, faculty members, and the student body, highlighting their crucial role in the association's journey.Prof. (Dr.) A.V. Sujith, the Principal of the institution, delivered the Presidential Address, where he highlighted the profound significance of commerce in shaping the dynamics of modern-day life. His vision for the association as a vibrant, ever-evolving community was communicated. He expressed confidence that through collective efforts, the association could realize its immense potential for growth and development.The formal inauguration proceeded with the Lighting of the Lamp Ceremony, symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance and the fostering of knowledge. The ceremony was led by the Chief Guest, Dr. Arun Lawrence, alongside the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) A.V. Sujith, Vice Principal Prof. (Dr.) Anju I, Prof. (Dr.) Issac Paul, and the Secretary of the Commerce Association, Adrija I Kumar. This moment served as a poignant ritual marking the beginning of the association's new chapter.Dr. Arun Lawrence, the Chief Guest for the occasion, delivered an insightful Inaugural Address. His focus was on the critical concepts of savings and investment, where he underscored the importance of setting aside a portion of one’s income for future financial security. He also explored a comparative analysis of various investment avenues, such as fixed deposits, gold, and the stock market. His address was not only informative but also thoughtprovoking, providing the audience with a deeper understanding of the practical aspects of managing personal finances.Following the inaugural address, several eminent faculty members extended their felicitations. Dr. Sheena Elizabeth Varghese, Department of English, GCTE, spoke eloquently on the concept of "Teacherpreneurship," drawing parallels between teaching and entrepreneurship and their relevance to commerce and language studies.Dr. Rajani K. Nair, Department of Malayalam, also shared her felicitations, emphasizing the role of commerce in everyday life and expressing her support for the association’s future endeavours.Dr. Chithralekha K.G., Department of Philosophy, GCTE, also delivered a felicitation speech, reinforcing the Chief Guest’s insights on the significance of investment and savings. She extended her heartfelt best wishes to the Commerce Association, recognizing its potential to enrich the student community. The cultural segment of the program featured a beautiful musical performance by Sneha, a first-year B.Ed. student from the Mathematics Department.One of the most significant moments of the inauguration was the unveiling of the Commerce Association’s logo. The logo, named "CommERGE – Commerce Emerging to New Heights," was unveiled by the Chief Guest, the Principal, and the Head of the Department, symbolizing the association’s ambitious vision and forward-thinking approach. Anusree, a member of the association, explained the meaning and significance of the logo and its relevance to commerce.
