INAUGURATION OF HINDI ASSOCIATION AND LANGUAGE CLUB

Report on Hindi Association and Language Club Inauguration


The Hindi Association and Language Club of Government College of Teacher Education (GCTE), Thiruvananthapuram, in association with IQAC, was inaugurated on 26th August 2025 at 9.30 am in the General Hall of the college. The programme was graced by distinguished guests, faculty members, and students.

The session commenced with a prayer rendered by Arunima J. S., 1st year B.Ed student, invoking a serene and auspicious beginning. Following this, the welcome address was delivered by Mrs. Hicky Devdas, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, who extended a warm greeting to all dignitaries, invitees, and participants.

The presidential address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) A. V. Sujith, Principal, GCTE, Thiruvananthapuram, who highlighted the importance of language learning and the role of associations in fostering cultural and linguistic awareness among teacher trainees.

The most awaited moment of the day was the inauguration by Dr. Rakhi Balagopal, Professor, PG Department & Research Centre of Hindi, Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram. In her inaugural address, she emphasized the significance of Hindi as a link language in India and stressed the need to develop multilingual competence among future teachers.

This was followed by felicitations from eminent faculty members including Dr. Shiba T. C., Associate Professor, Sanskrit Department, Dr. Kumar, Assistant Professor, Tamil Department, and Dr. Rajani, Assistant Professor, Malayalam Department. They appreciated the initiative of the association and shared their insights on the relevance of language clubs in promoting linguistic diversity.

The formal session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Megha Sabu, 1st year B.Ed student, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty, and students for making the event a grand success.

After the formal function, the students presented a series of Hindi cultural programmes, which included recitations, songs, and skits that showcased the beauty and richness of the Hindi language. The performances added colour and vibrancy to the day and reflected the enthusiasm of the budding teachers.

The inauguration of the Hindi Association and Language Club turned out to be an inspiring event, igniting a passion for language learning and cultural exchange among the students. The programme was well-organized and concluded with a positive note of unity in diversity.
