INAUGURATION OF NATURAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATION
Natural Science Association – GCTE Thiruvananthapuram
The inauguration of the B.Ed. Natural Science Association of GCTE, Thiruvananthapuram was held on 23rd September 2025 at General Hall–1. The function commenced at 9.30 a.m. with a prayer song led by Devendu S. R., first-year B.Ed. student, which set a serene and auspicious tone for the day. Following the prayer, Dr. Rajasree K., Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Natural Science, extended a warm welcome to the gathering and introduced the esteemed guest of the day.
The session was graced by the Presidential Address of Prof. Dr. A. V. Sujith, Principal, GCTE Thiruvananthapuram, who, in his inspiring speech, highlighted the importance of the Natural Science Association and emphasized its close connection and relevance to other disciplines of study. His words provided motivation and perspective to the students and faculty alike. The solemn lamp-lighting ceremony followed, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment, with the chief guest, principal, vice-principal, and association secretary together igniting the traditional lamp.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Sri Najab R., HST Zoology, Government Model HSS Venganoor, an alumnus of the institution. In his inaugural address, he fondly recollected his experiences as a former student of GCTE and expressed his joy at being part of the event. A significant highlight of the occasion was the revelation of the association’s name and logo. The association was named “GENESIS”, unveiled jointly by the chief guest and the principal. The rationale behind the name was beautifully explained by Sandra P. V., first-year B.Ed. student, who also shared heartfelt gratitude towards the students from various departments who collaborated in creating the association’s garden, aptly named “Genesis of GCTE Garden.” This was followed by the projection of the association’s logo and captivating visuals of the gardening activities, which drew great appreciation from the audience.
The felicitation session added further grace to the event. Prof. Dr. Anju I., Vice Principal, GCTE Thiruvananthapuram, offered her felicitations and acknowledged the strong bond shared with the Department of Natural Science. She was followed by Sri Vinod V., Senior Librarian of GCTE, who also conveyed his wishes and extended his support to the association.
The programme then moved to its academic highlight—an expert talk on the topic “EAT and BEAT” delivered by Sri Aravind S. Dileep, Assistant Manager of Charles Fitness Group, Mr. All India University, Mr. Kerala, and a certified nutritionist. In his powerful and engaging session, he discussed the significance of proper nutrition, the necessity of a balanced diet, and the role of exercise in maintaining good health. He also cleared common myths and misconceptions related to diet and fitness, while throwing light on nutritional deficiencies and the value of traditional food habits. The talk was highly interactive, thought-provoking, and proved to be very beneficial for everyone present.
To honor the dignitaries, the Principal presented mementos and rose plants as tokens of love and appreciation. The event also featured a melodious song rendered by Sneha, first-year B.Ed. Natural Science student, which added charm and vibrancy to the occasion. Finally, the programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Soliha S., first-year B.Ed. student, who expressed gratitude towards the chief guest, teachers, and students for their enthusiastic participation and collective effort in making the inauguration and the garden project a memorable success.
The inauguration of the Natural Science Association “GENESIS” thus marked a significant beginning, combining academic enrichment with creative initiatives, and leaving a lasting impression on the entire GCTE community.
