INAUGURATION OF SANSKRIT ASSOCIATION

Report on the Inauguration of the Sanskrit Association & Sanskrit Day Celebration

Government College of Teacher Education, Thiruvananthapuram


The Department of Sanskrit of the Government College of Teacher Education, Thiruvananthapuram, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (I.Q.A.C.), organized the Sanskrit Day Celebration and Association Inauguration on 11th August 2025 at 9.30 a.m. in the General Hall.

The programme began with a soulful prayer song by Amaya S., which set a devotional and serene tone for the event. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Shiba T. C., Associate Professor in Sanskrit, GCTE, who stressed the importance of Sanskrit in nurturing India’s cultural and intellectual traditions.

The presidential address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) A. V. Sujith, Principal, GCTE, who highlighted the role of Sanskrit in shaping Indian philosophy, literature, and education.

The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr. G. Sudev Krishna Sharman, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Sahitya, Govt. Sanskrit College, Thiruvananthapuram. In his inaugural address, he spoke about the enduring relevance of Sanskrit and the responsibility of teachers to keep alive the values embedded in the language. Adding a special charm to the occasion, the chief guest also sang a Sanskrit song, which captivated the audience and demonstrated the musical beauty of the language. His address, enriched with examples and reflections from Sanskrit literature, deeply inspired the gathering.

The session continued with felicitations by Prof. (Dr.) Issac Paul, Professor of Commerce, GCTE, and Dr. Kumar S., Assistant Professor of Tamil, GCTE, who lauded the efforts of the Sanskrit Department and encouraged students to participate actively in its initiatives.

As part of the celebration, Sanskrit games were organized, adding an interactive and lively dimension to the programme, enabling students to connect with the language in an engaging way.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Gopika C. K., Student Convener, who acknowledged the contributions of the chief guest, principal, faculty members, and students.
