KERALA PIRAVI CELEBRATION AND MALAYALA BHARANA BHASHA WEEK CELEBRATION

The Kerala Piravi Dinam was celebrated at Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, as Malayala Dina Aghoshavum Bharana Bhasha Vara Aghoshavum on 1st November 2025 at 9:15 a.m. in the UGC Hall. The programme showcased the college’s commitment to honouring Malayalam language, culture, and the spirit of Kerala’s formation day.
The celebration began with a soulful prayer rendered by Adilja I. Kumar, first-year B.Ed. student. This was followed by a warm welcome speech by Dr. Rajini, Head of the Malayalam Department, who introduced the significance of the day and the relevance of Malayalam as a language of identity and heritage.
The Presidential Address was delivered by Prof. Dr. A. V. Sujith, Principal, GCTE, Thiruvananthapuram. He highlighted the importance of language preservation, cultural values, and the role of future teachers in nurturing linguistic pride among younger generations.
A beautiful language-related introduction was then given by Sandra Sajeev, second-year B.Ed. student, who shared insights on Malayalam’s richness and its cultural depth.
The programme's Inaugural Address was delivered by Dr. S. P. Devi, writer and former Principal, GCTE, Thiruvananthapuram. Her words were inspiring, deeply thoughtful, and filled with love for the Malayalam language. Her speech added immense value to the celebration and inspired the students.
A heartfelt recitation in Malayalam, titled “Amma Thirumuzhi Malayalam,” was presented by Sujithra S. R., second-year B.Ed. student, which captivated the audience with its emotion and literary beauty.
Following this, the Malayalam Department magazine “Mukhamuzhi” was officially displayed by Srinath R. K. Kaulish, Union Magazine Editor.
To introduce the Bharana Bhasha Padangal, S. Manoj Kumar K., Senior Superintendent, GCTE, Thiruvananthapuram, was warmly welcomed. His session helped the audience understand important administrative terms and their relevance.

Cultural Session
In the afternoon, a series of cultural programmes were conducted by the students. The performances highlighted the artistic talents of the college and added colour and vibrancy to the celebrations.
Overall, the day was memorable, meaningful, and beautifully organised, reflecting the college’s pride in Malayalam language and Kerala’s cultural legacy.
