Christmas Day Celebration 2025
The Christmas Day Celebration 2025 was jointly organized by the Government College of Teacher Education (GCTE), Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 23 January 2025 at 9.30 a.m. in the General Hall, GCTE. The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting values of love, harmony, unity, and cultural integration among teacher trainees and faculty members.
The celebration began with a prayer by Ms. Suhana Jaleel, First Year B.Ed. student, invoking blessings for peace and goodwill. The programme formally commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Shiba T.C., Vice Principal, GCTE, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, staff members, and students, and highlighted the importance of celebrating festivals as a means of nurturing inclusiveness and mutual respect.
The Presidential Address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) A. V. Sujith, Principal, GCTE, who emphasized the relevance of Christmas values such as compassion, sharing, and empathy in shaping responsible and value-oriented teachers.
The programme was inaugurated with a message by Rev. Dr. N. B. Gladston Robert, Priest, CSI South Kerala Diocese. In his address, he reflected on the true spirit of Christmas and the need to practice love, forgiveness, and social commitment in everyday life.
The message session also included conveyances by eminent representatives of different faiths, symbolizing interfaith harmony. Dr. V. P. Suhaib Maulavi, Imam, Palayam Juma Masjid, spoke on peace, tolerance, and communal harmony, while Pravrajika Chetanaprana, Secretary, Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, Thiruvananthapuram, highlighted universal human values such as service, compassion, and spiritual awareness.
The felicitation session featured addresses by Sri. Manoj Kumar K, Senior Superintendent, GCTE; Sri. Vinodh V, Librarian, GCTE; Dr. Rajashree K, Staff Secretary, GCTE; Jhon Armstrong, PTA Vice-President, GCTE; Sreenath R. K, First Year B.Ed. student; and Sr. Princy Rajan, First Year M.Ed. student. They appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee and encouraged students to actively participate in cultural and co-curricular activities.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Sooryajith Sathyan, Chairperson, GCTE, who expressed sincere gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, organizers, and volunteers for their cooperation and support.
The celebration concluded with cake cutting, cultural programmes, and gift exchanges, which added joy and festive spirit to the occasion. The Christmas Day Celebration 2025 successfully fostered an atmosphere of togetherness, cultural harmony, and shared values within the college community.
