Orientation Programme for Mental Health






An Orientation Programme for Mental Health was successfully conducted at the Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, on Monday, 22 December 2025, from 9:20 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness about mental health and helping students understand the importance of goal setting and achievement in their personal and professional lives.
The programme featured an inspiring session by Dr. V. Sunilraj, Clinical Psychologist, Director of ISDC, and Motivational Speaker. The topic of the session was “Goal Setting and Achievements.” Dr. Sunilraj highlighted the significance of having clear life goals and maintaining a positive mental attitude to achieve them. He explained how proper goal setting contributes to emotional well-being, self-confidence, and overall mental health.
During the session, the resource person emphasized practical strategies for identifying personal strengths, setting realistic and meaningful goals, and overcoming challenges such as stress, fear, and lack of motivation. The talk was interactive and motivating, enabling students to reflect on their own aspirations and mental health practices.

The programme was well received by the participants and helped them gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between mental health and achievement. It encouraged students to adopt healthy coping strategies and a goal-oriented mindset for academic and personal success.
The orientation programme concluded with a vote of thanks, marking it as a meaningful and impactful initiative towards promoting mental well-being among future teachers.
